Whilst it's never explicitly stated that our Morty was among the Mortys who were created at The Citadel, Rick alludes to it, telling Morty "Jeez, you guys really are bred for forgiveness." However, it was also shown that Ricks manipulated circumstances for different versions of Jerry and Beth to meet, which would lead to them conceiving Morty in the future. Basically, the clones were needed for those Ricks whose original Mortys died. In " Rickmurai Jack" it is revealed that most Mortys were bred at The Citadel in order to serve Ricks, as well as act as camouflage. Rick later states Morty's low intelligence masks Rick's high intelligence, acting as a camouflage that prevents Rick's incredible intelligence from being tracked. In the pilot episode, Morty's parents insist that he has some sort of learning disability. In " Raising Gazorpazorp", Beth accidentally admitted that when Morty was a baby, Jerry filled Morty with his own insecurities, making him the anxious teenager we see in the series. It's possible the baby Rick picked up was an alternate version of Morty or Rick dropped in on this version of the Smith (who resided within the Prime Dimension our Morty's original home) family to meet him before leaving once again. It was originally assumed these babies were our Morty, but the revelation that Rick only just met Morty shortly before the beginning of the series contradicts this. In " Get Schwifty", a picture on Birdperson's wall depicted Rick holding a baby, who, although had an ambiguous identity, was very likely Morty. In " Close Rick-Counters of the Rick Kind", one of Rick's happy memories of Morty was picking him up as a baby. In " Morty's Mind Blowers", one of the embarrassing memories Rick erased from himself was getting candles thrown in his eyes when Morty was celebrating his 13th birthday, with Rick present, which means he returned to the family before that time, which contradicts the family celebrating the 1-year anniversary of his return to the family in " Close Rick-Counters of the Rick Kind". However, curiously enough, it has been shown Rick knew Morty when he was a baby (however, this may have been a different Morty). However, it was revealed that Rick is originally from Dimension C-137 and, after losing his wife and daughter, eventually moved into Morty's dimension to live with an adult version of Beth. He first met his grandfather, Rick Sanchez, when the latter moved into his home after supposedly being absent for 20 years. Rick eventually arrived in Morty's dimension after decades of failing to get revenge on Rick Prime and took his place, kickstarting the series and thus Rick and Morty's adventures.Ĭurrently, Morty is 14 years old. It has since been revealed that Rick is not Morty's true grandfather and Morty is actually the biological grandson of Rick Prime, a version of Rick who murdered the latter's family. This newfound confidence also allowed Morty to distance himself from Rick more often due to his despicable tendencies, although Morty still stays by his side when necessary. However, Morty eventually gained more confidence as time went on and is now more capable and independent rather than a mere sidekick. He had little say in the adventures he went on with Rick and was often verbally abused and manipulated by him. At the beginning of the series, Morty was shown to be an incredibly anxious and submissive teenage boy. Morty is Rick Sanchez's grandson and was often forced to tag along on his various misadventures as a sidekick whilst attending Harry Herpson High School along with his sister, Summer. He was often incorrectly identified as Morty C-137 until Season 5. of the Prime Dimension is one of the two titular protagonists of Rick and Morty, alongside Rick. Harry Belden (" How Poopy Got His Poop Back" - present) “ Justin Roiland (" Pilot" - " Ricktional Mortpoon's Rickmas Mortcation")
